You need to be registered to interact with the community.

This community is for professional and beginner users, partners and developers. You can ask questions about:

  • how to install Odoo on a specific infrastructure,
  • how to configure or customize Odoo for specific business needs,
  • what is the best way to use Odoo for a given business need,
  • how to develop modules for your own needs,
  • specific questions about Odoo service offerings, etc.

Before asking - please make sure to search for similar questions. You can search for questions by their title or tags. It is also fine to answer your own question.

Please avoid asking subjective or argumentative questions or ones that are not relevant to this community.

You should only ask practical, answerable questions based on actual problems you are facing. Open-ended questions reduce the usefulness of the site and will have their visibility reduced.

To prevent your question from being flagged and possibly removed, avoid asking subjective questions where …

  • every answer is equally valid: "What is your favorite ________?"
  • your answer is provided along with the question, and you expect more answers: "I use ______ for ______, what do you use?"
  • there is no real problem to solve: "I am curious whether other people feel like I do."
  • you are asked a hypothetical, open-ended question: "What if ______ had happened?"
  • it is a rhetorical question in disguise: "______ is garbage, isn't it?"

If one of these examples applies to your case or if your motivation for asking the question is “I want to take part in a discussion about ______”, then you should not be asking here but on our mailing lists. However, if your motivation is “I would like others to explain ______ to me”, then it is probably fine.

More about:

  • Answers should not add to or expand on questions. Instead, edit the question or add a question comment.
  • Answers should not comment on other answers. Instead, add a comment on the other answers.
  • Answers should not refer to other questions. Instead, add a question comment saying "Possible duplicate of ...". However, it is fine to include links to other questions or answers that provide relevant additional information.
  • Answers should not merely provide a link to a solution. Instead, put the descriptive text of the solution in your answer, even if it is a copy and paste. Links are welcome, but they should complement an answer, referencing sources or providing additional information.

Answers should not start debates. This community is not a discussion group. Please avoid debates in your answers, as they tend to dilute the essence of the questions and answers. For brief discussions, use the comment tool.

When a question or answer receives upvotes, the user who posted it earns points, called "karma points". These points serve as a rough measure of the trust the community has placed in that user. Several moderation tasks are gradually granted to users based on those points.

For example, if you ask an interesting question or provide a helpful answer, you will receive an upvote. On the other hand, if the answer is misleading, it will receive a downvote. Each upvote adds 10 points and each downvote subtracts 2 points. There is a limit of 200 points that can be earned per question or answer per day. The table shown at the end explains the reputation points required for each type of moderation task.

The goal of this site is to create a relevant knowledge base that answers Odoo questions.

That is why questions and answers can be edited like Wikipedia pages by knowledgeable users of this site, to raise the overall quality of the content of this knowledge base. Such privileges are granted based on the user's karma level: you will be able to do the same once your karma is high enough.

If you do not agree with this approach, please respect the community.

Here is a table with the privileges and karma levels.
