About the course
Nobody taught you to manage yourself
And it is what you will use the most. Some technically brilliant professionals stall while others, who know less, keep moving ahead. The difference usually comes down to a handful of skills that nobody teaches in an orderly way.
Technical knowledge expires; the way you work, learn and deal with people stays with you for your whole career. This course builds it methodically and in order: first yourself, then other people and, finally, your resources.
Each block stands on its own. Follow the order or start with whatever is most pressing for you.

You are starting out
And you would rather skip years of learning the hard way.
You now lead a team
And you are finding out that leading is a different job.
You are mid-career
And you feel that what you lack is method, not knowledge.
Technical or managerial
The course works just as well for a technical profile as for a management one.

Sustain the effort through habits when motivation is not there.
Learn better
Learn and retain more with study techniques that work.
Get your point across

Negotiate with method
Prepare a negotiation from interests, alternatives and the zone of possible agreement.

Syllabus
The full syllabus
Thirteen blocks in three stages: first yourself, then other people and, finally, your resources.
- 1 · Success and happiness: know yourself. Your purpose and your own definition of success, with indicators to measure it.
- 2 · Motivation: pursue your dreams. What gets you moving, and how habits keep you going when motivation does not show up.
- 3 · Strategy: manage your dreams. A company's strategic analysis applied to your career: mission, SWOT and a plan with dates.
- 4 · Learning and reading: the foundations of knowledge. Active recall, spaced repetition and notes you actually reuse: learning and reading so that it sticks.
- 5 · Brain and mind. Attention, memory, biases and the physical conditions for performance: your mind, minus the myths.
- 6 · Communication: express yourself effectively. Asking, persuading, speaking in public and writing a clear email or report.
- 7 · Empathy: the basis of human relationships. What it is, where its limits lie and how to practice it: listening to understand, asking without attacking.
- 8 · Leadership and teamwork. How a team thinks and decides, and how to lead it: leadership styles, delegation and feedback.
- 9 · Human relationships: friends, family and partner. Relationships are built: giving them time, setting boundaries and arguing in a way that strengthens the bond.
- 10 · Negotiation. The Harvard method: interests, options, objective criteria, your alternative and your zone of possible agreement.
- 11 · Personal marketing. Your professional value proposition, without pretense, and how to tell it in a résumé, on LinkedIn and in interviews.
- 12 · Managing money. A save-first budget, compound interest, investing and risk, and the taxes an individual pays.
- 13 · Managing time. Prioritizing between the urgent and the important, planning and executing. With two recommended videos.
